Compact and mid-size cars claimed the top two spots in terms of best-performing segments for the week as values for the two segments were up 0.17% and 0.24%, respectively.
The strength of these two segments helped offset the weakness exhibited by luxury car segments.
Overall, the car segment was up 0.03% over last week, compared to a 0.06% decline the segment experienced the week prior.
“Used sedans are hot in the market as value-conscious consumers look for affordable transportation,” said Anil Goyal, executive vice president, operations, for Black Book.
Overall, truck segment values decreased 0.11% last week, compared to 0.16% the week prior. Although the truck segment did not perform as well as the sedan segment, it still experienced a slight increase in values week-over-week.
The small pickup segment was the best-performing segment among trucks last week, as average wholesale values were up 0.1%. The weakest segment among trucks was the compact luxury crossover/SUV segment, which was down 0.36% over the week before.
