BEL AIR, MD - BSCAmerica’s Bel Air Auction, one of the longest-running auctions in the country, celebrated its 65th Anniversary April 19 with a gala promotion that brought buyers and sellers together for a spirited auction event, prize drawings, and a visit by a celebrity guest. The auction issued a total of 1,123 live bidder badges for the anniversary sale.

More than 1,500 vehicles crossed the auction block at the Anniversary Sale, resulting in a 77 percent sale, reports R. Charles Nichols, president of Bel Air Auto Auction.

Featured consignors included Ally Remarketing, Mile One, M&T Bank, ARI, PHH, Metro America Auto Sales, Wheels and Westlake Financial, Lindsay Automotive, Jones Junction, and GSA, in addition to new- and used-car dealers from throughout the region. The auction also featured a GM Factory sale with more than 80 cars and trucks.

Harbaugh congratulates the winner of the Royal Caribbean Cruise: Jay Tribull of Beach Bound Auto Sales.

“It was non-stop excitement from start to finish,” Nichols said. “Joining us in the celebration was John Harbaugh, head coach of the Baltimore Ravens. Our customers enjoyed visiting with him during the sale, and he took to the auction block himself to announce the grand prize winner at the end of the sale.”

When Bel Air Auto Auction opened its doors in 1947, a few dealers gathered to bid on 50 vehicles running on a single auction lane. The auction became a member of the NAAA in 1958, and added a second lane in 1962. Today, Bel Air Auto Auction manages the flow of more than 75,000 vehicles a year, handling consignments from new and used car dealers and private business fleets as well as those from public service and government agencies. The auction provides a wide range of auto-related services, including floor planning, storage, transportation, internet sales, full reconditioning, and certification.
