Online used vehicle retailer Carvana has acquired Car360, a 360-degree photo technology, 3D computer vision, and augmented reality company, the company announced.

Since its inception, Carvana has used propriety technology and patented photo studios to capture images of the vehicles in its inventory. Car360 is one of the first commercially available uses of 3D computer vision, machine learning, and AR technology for the automotive industry, according to Carvana.

With this acquisition, Carvana hopes to improve the way that consumers view its vehicles on its platform.

Car360’s entire team will transition to Carvana, including founder Bruno Francois, CEO John Hanger, and chief computer vision scientist Grant Schindler.
