TradeRev, a digital marketplace that facilitates live, dealer-to-dealer vehicle sales, recently appointed James Tani as president. He will oversee the strategic growth and development of TradeRev in addition to his role leading Canadian sales as the executive vice president of KAR Global dealer sales.

TradeRev is a business unit of global wholesale used vehicle digital marketplace operator KAR Global. Tani will report to James Coyle, chief digital officer of KAR Global.

“As one of the co-founders of TradeRev and an industry veteran, I can’t think of anyone better suited to take over leadership of TradeRev,” said Coyle in a news release. “James in his dual role leading the Canadian sales team and his deep understanding of the full automotive ecosystem will keep us connected to dealers and their needs as we continue to expand and align our marketplaces.”

Tani started his career working on the retail and wholesale sides of the automotive business for 15 years. In 2011, he along with co-founders Mark Endras, Wade Chia and Jae Pak launched TradeRev in Canada. Tani was integral to the company’s rapid growth across the country as TradeRev’s executive vice president of sales. After merging ADESA and TradeRev’s sales teams under KAR Global to better serve customers with a combined wholesale offering, he was named to his current role as executive vice president of KAR Global dealer sales. Tani succeeds Endras who has transitioned to lead KAR Global’s product pipeline as senior vice president of product and also reports to Coyle.

“It has been an incredible journey co-founding TradeRev, watching the company’s exponential growth and ultimately combining our capabilities with ADESA to offer dealers the most powerful wholesale marketplace in Canada,” Tani said. “As we continue to streamline KAR Global’s portfolio of services, capabilities and offerings across our digital platforms, there’s no limit to the success we can help our customers achieve.”

Tani received a bachelor's commerce degree in marketing and finance from Concordia University. He is based at TradeRev’s headquarters in Toronto, Ontario.

TradeRev users can complete an entire transaction within the app, including inspection, title and arbitration services, instant live bids at appraisal, floorplan financing and transportation.
