In a State of the Remarketing Industry discussion, Mike Antich, conference chair for the Conference of Automotive Remarketing (CAR) and editor of Automotive Fleet, discussed with Laura Taylor, president of National Auto Auction Association (NAAA), and Paul Seger, president of International Automotive Remarketers Alliance (IARA), the importance of remarketing education during the pandemic. Taylor is also the general manager of the Charleston Auto Auction. Seger is VP of asset remarketing for Element Fleet Management.

They discussed the critical (and increased) need for virtual events during the new landscape of less travel, social distance, and face-to-face connection loss. They also stressed the value in attending a free virtual conference that will allow companies to register more staff members and expand the educational benefits deeper into their companies. Both Seger and Taylor encourage attendance to the 2020 Virtual CAR Experience, which is being held online Oct. 12 – 16, 2020. Attendance for the CAR Experience is free exclusively for consignors and auction personnel.

They also provided a sneak peek at some of the planned sessions at the 2020 CAR Experience, which is just a snapshot of attendees can expect from the virtual event.

The NAAA will be hosting a panel titled “How to Develop an Active Threat Preparedness Plan,” which will provide practical and lifesaving tips and best practices on how to prepare your workplace from an active threat situation by preparing an active threat preparedness plan. The NAAA will also be sponsoring a keynote presentation “Beyond the Pandemic and After the Elections,” hosted by columnist, author, and small business owner, Gene Marks, who will address the issues, challenges, and strategies to grow businesses over the next two years.

The IARA will be hosting a consignor panel discussion titled “Consignors Driving Change,” where a panel of consignors, who are also IARA officers, will discuss their remarketing strategies and how the IARA is developing and implementing the industry initiatives to help make its consignor members successful.
