ANDERSON, SC – Sal Terranova, national remarketing manager at Carolina Auto Auction (CAA) in Anderson, S.C. has completed the course requirements to become a Certified Automotive Remarketer (CAR) in the program initiated by the International Automotive Remarketers Alliance.
Terranova also manages the Fleet Lease Department for the auction. CAA is an 8-lane, ServNet Auction facility that runs 1500 units every Wednesday. He brings over 20 years of remarketing experience to his role at Carolina. He was the head of Remarketing for First Union Nat’l Bank for 7-years, and was responsible for the remarketing of over 100,000 units per year. Terranova successfully utilized multiple sale channels in his remarketing role including customer resale, and internet initiatives. He also worked for GE Capital Auto Lease for 15-years.
“His remarketing expertise, having been on the institutional side, brings a new perspective to our management team”, said Henry Stanley, industry veteran and owner of the auction. Sal has always approached his remarketing roles with the perspective of maximizing value throughout the remarketing process. Sal graduated from Boston College with a BS degree in Business Administration and Marketing.
Terranova has always been an innovator who challenges the status quo in an effort to create additional value in any process. He believes that both efficiency and effectiveness are key process objectives for both the auction, and the client. “How well you do, and how well you do it partner together to realize the highest net return for the client”. Sal stresses the importance of a ‘partnership effort’ and often says that, ‘relationship is the bridge that business travels over’.
The course curriculum includes 20 courses in five units covering remarketing channels, pre-sale activities, actual-sale activities, post-sale activities, and legal, ethics, and terminology. The education committee of IARA developed the course materials with help from many remarketing industry leaders.
Officially, the IARA CAR certification will be awarded to Terranova, along with the first group of graduates, at a ceremony to be held on Feb. 25, 2009, at the Conference on Automotive Remarketing 2009 in Las Vegas.
