ServNet Auctions Rev Up at GM Remarketing Meeting

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Representatives of seven ServNet Auctions gathered at the Columbus Fair Auto Auction Aug. 23-25 for the 2006 GM Remarketing Meeting.

The kick-off meeting was a free-flowing promotional planning event led by General Motors’ Director of Vehicle Remarketing Jeff Heichel, who led discussions covering such topics as understanding product mix, frontline ready development, data mining resources, and smart auction.

The next day’s morning meeting addressed current performance, forecasts, and general business updates. The focus then shifted toward raising vehicle condition standards for GM products running in a GM-sponsored sale, inventories management, and over-age units. There was also a group discussion on the financial impact of creating a $100 lift in price at the auction, and the impact of vehicles in inventory one day less. The meeting moved to Columbus Fair’s 56,000-square-foot body shop, where workshops were held demonstrating repair methods integral to maintaining GM’s quality standards, including: paintless dent removal, partial bumper repair, headlight lens restoration, interior cleaning solutions, and pinstriping.

That evening, the group gathered at Jefferson Country Club for cocktails and dinner, and were treated to a surprise visit from two-time Heisman Trophy Winner, Archie Griffin, who autographed footballs for all guests, shared some of his football experiences, and consoled some of the wounded Wolverine fans in the crowd.

Friday morning, the group was up and running again, addressing the theme of setting the standard as they discussed block management, SmartLane, and general auction processes. The meeting concluded with a special award presentation to Tri-State Auto Auction, Fargo, which was cited by General Motors for Operational Excellence.



A visit to the vintage car collection at Bob McDorman Chevrolet was a highlight of the 2006 ServNet/GM Remarketing Meeting in August.
