SPOKANE, WA - ServNet has announced the addition of it newest member: Rea Brothers’ Mid-South Auction. A family-owned facility located near Jackson, Miss., Rea Brothers’ Mid-South Auction has been one of the South’s leading independent auctions since its founding in 1972.
Rea Brothers' Mid-South Auction traces its roots to Owner/General Manager John Rea’s grandfather, Cecil Rea, who founded an automotive remarketing venture in 1955 that evolved into today’s auction business. In 1972, John’s father and uncle, Jimmy and Kenny Rea, opened the Mid-South Auction in Philadelphia, Miss., to serve the local eastern Mississippi dealers. Since then, the auction has expanded and relocated three times to accommodate an increasing clientele and greater consignment numbers.
“In 2005 we opened our new, ultra-modern auction and remarketing center, marking 33 years since the opening of our first single-lane facility in a small greenhouse where we hosted a few dealers from the local area,” explained Rea. “Now, we’re six lanes strong, serving dealers from California to New York.”
The auction’s full-service facility is located on nearly 50 acres in Pearl, Miss., just east of Jackson, the state capital. With easy access to Interstates 20 and 55, and just minutes from Jackson International Airport, Rea Brothers’ runs more than 700 vehicles every Tuesday at 10 am. In addition to consignments from area dealers, the auction features vehicles from Nissan, Wheels, ARI, PHH, RSA, and Enterprise. The auction also holds a weekly salvage sale on Tuesdays at 9 am, and a government sale with GSA on the first Thursday of every month at 11 am.
In other news, Rea will serve as president of the National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) in 2008. Working as his vice president during his term of office will be fellow ServNet Owner Bob McConkey, slated to assume duties as NAAA President in 2009.
