FREDERICK, MD - The National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) announced that Frank Hackett has accepted the newly created position of Chief Executive Officer of the association. He has been a valued part of the organization for seven years serving as Executive Director. The transition is effective immediately.

ganization, its growing visibility as a voice for the industry, and the increasing responsibilities of its leadership. Founded in 1948, NAAA now represents more than 300 auction members and 100 associate members who comprise the leading remarketers of used vehicles and related auction services in the world.

"One of the many reasons we felt the need to change the position in our association is held within the definition of Chief Executive Officer, which means the ultimate management responsibility," explains NAAA President Charlotte Pyle. "Since Frank has joined our association the NAAA has elevated its membership toward becoming an exemplary, viable and influential leader within the automobile industry."

She added that Hackett's leadership skills, outstanding character and engaging personality have been a crucial instrument in this achievement. "He is continually looking for new and innovative ideas to bring our member auctions to a whole new level," Pyle said. "Under his direction I expect nothing less than a remarkable future with a level of acclaimed professionalism."

Other NAAA officials noted that the transition was necessary to more properly convey the position's existing duties and place it on the same peer level as others the association interacts with in the private and public sectors.

"Having just completed my term as president of the NAAA for 2010-2011, it was clear to me Frank served a much larger role in our industry than that of an executive director," said Jay Cadigan, who is now NAAA's chairman of the board. "Association presidents and board members typically serve for a few years, while Frank is without doubt the anchor of our united industry. The CEO title clearly recognizes the values and credibility Frank brings to the entire profession and identifies his position as a leader for the long term."

NAAA Treasurer David Angelicchio agreed, saying, "As a past president of NAAA, I had the opportunity to work closely with Frank and observe his strong management, organizational, and communication skills as well as his great vision for both our organization and the industry. His hard work and dedication earned the respect of his colleagues as his function at NAAA evolved from that of manager to the leader of our association. The CEO title is certainly more appropriate and will have far-reaching benefits for our members as our association continues to expand its industry leadership."
