NEWARK, CA - Socket Communications, Inc., dba Socket Mobile, Inc., an innovative provider of mobile productivity solutions, recently announced that Manheim Auto Auction, a provider of wholesale auto auctions in the United States, selected the SoMo 650 handheld computer as the device of choice when dealers are looking for mobile solutions within the automotive wholesale market.
The most recent deployment of the SoMo 650 handheld mobile computer enables Manheim's wholesale dealers the convenience of mobile information and improved data collection processes with Socket Mobile scanners.
"Workers in the automotive industry represent a significant, under-served segment of the business mobility market," said Kevin Mills, CEO and president of Socket Mobile. "These workers, such as Manheim's large base of auto dealers, rely on a mobile solution to perform their basic job functions, but until the SoMo 650 haven't had a device with the functionality of a PDA or the durability of an industrial-grade device. Socket Mobile has seen significant interest for its handheld solution in the automotive industry and is ideally positioned for continued growth in this market."
Manheim Auto Auction hosts an average of 3,000 auto dealers and offers approximately 8,000 to 9,000 cars weekly, making efficient business decisions imperative. With digital pricing programs replacing paper books, the PDA customer demands a competitive product durable enough to withstand day-to-day wear and tear.
Manheim's Handheld Manheim Market Report (HMMR) platform has led the market in providing easy-to-use software that offers the industry's only pricing guide fueled by daily transaction data. The customizable framework of the SoMo 650 allows Manheim to seamlessly upload the report application directly to the device, enabling dealers at Manheim Auto Auction to quickly and accurately access pricing details of a vehicle.
