RADFORD, VA - Frank Sale, Sr., founder and former owner of the Radford Auto Auction in Virginia, passed away Jan. 18 at his home. He was 82.

RADFORD, VA - Frank Sale, Sr., founder and former owner of the Radford Auto Auction in Virginia, passed away Jan. 18 at his home. He was 82.
According to the National Auto Auction Association (NAAA), Sale was raised a farm boy, but ventured out into the real estate and auctioneering business in 1952. He was a self-taught auctioneer, a founding member of the Virginia Auctioneer Association, and was inducted in their Hall of Fame in 1998.

Born Sept. 21, 1929 to the late Albin and Ollie Sale of Radford, Va., [Frank] Sale was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Hilda Elmore Sale; and his second wife of 46 years, Vera Bishop Dulaney Sale. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, June and Jimmy Walker; son and daughter-in-law, David and Karen Sale; stepson, Dean Dulaney; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Jan Dulaney Murphy and Warren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Judy Sale, and Pete and Connie Sale; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and spouse, Gene and Nancy Bishop; and extended family and friends.
