Guyer Retires as General Manager From ADESA Jacksonville

CARMEL, IN — ADESA Corp. has announced the retirement of Rick Guyer, general manager of ADESA Jacksonville. Guyer’s last day with ADESA will be September 30, 2006.
Guyer got his start in the industry in 1976 as assistant general manager at Dealers Indianapolis Auto Auction for Manheim Auctions. After being promoted to general manager in 1980, Guyer worked around the country for Manheim’s corporate offices where he opened the Florida Auto Auction of Orlando (FAAO) in Ocoee, Fla., developed sales programs in Kansas City, and launched an acquisition in Walpole, Mass. From 1981 to 1994, Guyer was the general manager at Auto Dealer’s Exchange (ADE) of Indianapolis, taking a brief break in 1990 to open Gulf States Auto Auction (now ADESA Dallas) in Mesquite, Texas.
In 1994, Guyer joined ADESA as the new Acquisition Operations Director. In 1995, Guyer led ADESA’s efforts to develop and deploy a new auction management system. He also led the company’s internal audit team for a brief period of time in 1996. From 1996 to 1998, he held the position of Regional Manager. Guyer also served as ADESA’s national construction manager from 1998 to 2000. Most recently, Guyer served as general manger at ADESA Jacksonville since January 2001.
Guyer is an Indiana native and a graduate of Warren Central High School in Indianapolis and Hanover College in Hanover, Ind. Guyer is a U.S. Air Force veteran where he served in the U.S. and South Korea from 1966-1970. He and his wife Jane have been married for 38 years, and their son Joseph, is currently the assistant general manager at ADESA Charlotte.
