DETROIT – General Motors this year marks the 25th Anniversary of GM Sponsored Auctions, an exciting milestone for GM, its dealers and GM Sponsored Auctions throughout the United States. To celebrate the occasion, GM Remarketing and all GM Sponsored Auctions will hold special “Then and Now” Silver Anniversary events throughout the year at each of 41 GM Sponsored Auctions locations throughout the United States.
There will be at least one Silver Anniversary event per week at a designated GM Sponsored Auction, beginning March 7 at ADESA Kansas City, followed by the remainder of the ADESA auctions. The Silver Anniversary events at the ServNet auctions will start with Dealers Auto Auction of Oklahoma City on May 8, followed by the Manheim auctions, concluding on December 13 with Detroit Auto Auction. Each Silver Anniversary event will feature special incentives and prizes for participating GM dealers, who will be able to participate either online or on-site in the auction lanes.
“This is a significant milestone for GM and GMAC Remarketing and the Silver Anniversary sales are a great way for GM Sponsored Auctions to recognize our GM dealer customers,” said Dan Kennedy, national sales manager, GM Remarketing. “Since the inception of the GM auction program in 1982 when the concept was first piloted with our GM dealers, GM Remarketing has provided GM dealers a source for high-quality, late-model used vehicles, with sales of more than 11 million units through 2006.”
Every GM Remarketing Silver Anniversary event will include the following:
Absolute Sale Units – 25 Absolute Sale vehicles per sale lane, with some vehicles positioned at the start of the sale and some at the end.
Transportation Assistance – 25 percent of the Silver Anniversary event volume will be eligible to receive $25 per vehicle in transportation assistance. A minimum of any four auction vehicles must be purchased by a dealership for the eligible vehicles to qualify for transportation assistance. A Silver Anniversary static-cling window label will clearly identify those vehicles with transportation assistance available (i.e., a dealer purchasing 10 vehicles, three with transportation assistance window clings, is eligible for $75 transportation assistance).
Prizes – Every 25th vehicle gets a spin on the wheel or a prize from a drawing, with specific prizes determined by the individual auctions.
Auction locations also may feature a variety of other special Silver Anniversary prizes for participating dealers.
