FLINT, MI – For the second year running, General Motors has recognized the Flint Auto Auction as winner of its most prestigious honor for its auction partners - the Auction of the Year Award. Flint Auto Auction was recognized out of 40 GM Sponsored Auctions across the country for its outstanding performance, quality and service on behalf of GM. In GM's auction standings for 2008, Flint Auto Auction tied with ADESA Fargo for the top honor. This is the first time in the 25 years of presenting this award that General Motors recognized two auctions.

The Flint Auto Auction received its award on Thursday, March 12 from Mark Mathews, director, GM, Rental and Used Vehicle Activities.

"I am pleased to present this award to John Luce and Bill Williams, co-owners of Flint Auto Auction," said Mathews. "This award emphasizes the essential role auctions play in the movement of our vehicles. Flint Auto Auction has given us superb examples of quality products and excellence. They serve as a role model for other GM Sponsored Auctions striving to improve their efforts in reconditioning, repairs and presentation of GM's used vehicles to our dealers."

Flint Auto Auction sold over 9,200 vehicles in 2008 at GM Sponsored Auctions. Since joining the program in 2001, the auction has regularly placed among the top 10 auctions in the U.S. In 2008, it also earned GM's monthly award for Overall Achievement an unprecedented five times.

"The results speak for themselves. Flint Auto Auction earned the distinction of co-winner of the GM Auction of the Year Award by being one of two best performing auction sites, consistently exceeding our dealer's needs," remarked Dan Kennedy, GM national sales manager. "They sold more than 9,200 vehicles in 2008 and were recognized among the top 10 performing auctions in the country month after month. The Flint team consistently provided quality products along with innovative ideas and services in a challenging environment. This prestigious award is well-deserved by the entire Flint Auto Auction team."

"We are excited to receive this recognition from General Motors," said Luce. "It is a distinct honor for everyone at Flint and we are proud to have a great team that provides top-notch repairs and outstanding customer service."

Williams added, "Our partnership with GM has made our auctions a success and we look forward to continuing our collaborative relationship for many years to come."
