Chrysler Group Pre-Owned Vehicle Sales for May Rise 10.6 Percent

AUBURN HILLS, MI – Chrysler Group announced results of its Certified Pre-owned Vehicle sales for May 2007, reporting a 10.6 percent increase from last year. The company also posted year-over-year rise in sales of its Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep brand vehicles for the month, according to the Web site www.rttnews.com.


The Stuttgart, Germany based automobile manufacturer posted monthly sales of 11,243 Certified Pre-owned Vehicles or CPOVs by its Five Star dealers, up compared to 10,164 units sold in May last year. The company noted that monthly sales of pre-owned vehicles increased 8.4 percent compared to April 2007.

Sales of Chrysler brand increased five percent to 3,948 vehicles for the month, compared to May 2006. Monthly sales of the Dodge brand advanced 11 percent to 3,948 units, while the Jeep brand sales climbed 21 percent to 2,698 units compared to the same period a year earlier.


Year-to-date sales of pre-owned vehicles advanced 6.5 percent to 53,829 units, compared to the corresponding period last year, according to the Web site www.rttnews.com.


On Jun. 1, 2007, Chrysler Group reported a four-percent increase in its total U.S vehicle sales for May to 199,393 units from 191,261 units in May 2006. The company said total sales of the Chrysler Brand declined to 53,157 units for the month from 55,680 units in the same month last year, while sales of the Jeep Brand climbed 20 percent to 42,870 units from 35,605 units last year. Chrysler’s Dodge Brand sold total 103,366 units during May, compared to 99,976 units sold in the corresponding period a year earlier.


Shares of DCX are currently trading at $88.70, up $0.85 or 0.97 percent, on 0.54 million shares.
