Chad Bailey, the president of Akron Auto Auction and Value Auto Auction in Akron, Ohio, received the 2021 Vehicle Remarketer of the Year Award on June 17 during the Conference of Automotive Remarketing in Las Vegas.
Bailey is a past president of the National Automobile Auction Association, where he served in the post from November 2018 to September 2019. He is also vice president of the ServNet Auctions Inc., a consortium of about 25 auction operations, where he will become its president in October.

The remarketing honor is awarded jointly by CAR and conference host Bobit Business Media. Automotive Fleet associate publisher and editor Mike Antich presented Bailey with the award.
The Remarketer of the Year award recognizes individuals in the remarketing industry who actively share expertise and skills that advance the industry, participate in industry associations and groups, and mentor in the development of the next generation of remarketers.

Bailey, a third-generation auto auction professional, joined Akron Auto Auction part-time in 1999. The business was founded in 1973 by his grandfather. He rose through the ranks becoming general manager, minority owner, and full owner and president. During his time as general manager, the company went from 27 to 230 employees in 2016.
Bailey holds an MBA degree from the University of West Florida College of Business and majored as an undergraduate in mass communication and media studies.
The Akron Auto Auction consigns 1000+ vehicles weekly on Tuesdays. On June 1, the business announced it acquired nearby Value Auto Auction to become a major industry presence in southeastern Ohio.

Combined auction staff will exceed more than 300 employees who will be cross-trained to work at each sale when necessary. Both auctions have full technology capabilities thru Auction Edge, employing a full complement of Digital Technology tools.
While accepting the award at the Caesars Palace convention center, Bailey said, “You never lose. You either win or learn.”
