Certifying Wholesale Vehicles Can Boost Sales

Vehicles at auction, especially those at higher mileage, can benefit from certification, a recent Manheim white paper found.
The whitepaper titled “Certification Impact on Low Grade & High Mileage Units” found that certified wholesale vehicles sell 4%-8% faster than uncertified vehicles. This correlation was especially true in vehicles with mileage higher than 75,000.
Manheim also found that certified wholesale vehicles see one-third fewer arbitrations than those without certification.
In terms of Simulcast sales, the company found that certified vehicles had 6.6% more Simulcast sales than those not certified. And, on the topic of Simulcast, Manheim also found that certified vehicles had a 48% wider Simulcast audience reach and more bids per vehicle.
“Manheim’s goal is to build trust and confidence between buyers and sellers within the wholesale market,” said Brett Woods, vice president of Assurance at Cox Automotive. “While this data reinforces that vehicles with Certifications are at an advantage, we’re also reminded that giving buyers assurance before the sale is the best way to create a positive experience and earn loyalty.”
