AutoTrader.com Appoints Dixon to Director of Promotions & Sponsorships

ATLANTA – AutoTrader.com has appointed Don Dixon to the position of director of promotions and sponsorships. In this role, Dixon will oversee the Strategic Marketing team and will be responsible for the company's involvement in auto show and sports sponsorships as well as the development of promotional activities. He will report directly to Clark Wood, vice president of marketing.

ATLANTAAutoTrader.com has appointed Don Dixon to the position of director of promotions and sponsorships. In this role, Dixon will oversee the Strategic Marketing team and will be responsible for the company's involvement in auto show and sports sponsorships as well as the development of promotional activities. He will report directly to Clark Wood, vice president of marketing.

Dixon brings more than 30 years of experience in marketing, and has been working with AutoTrader.com's majority owner Cox Enterprises, Inc. (CEI) since he sold his company to them in 1996. As senior director of promotions and marketing for CEI, he developed promotional campaigns and led the marketing and advertising of new product introductions as well as promotion and film projects for all Cox businesses (Cox Newspapers, Cox Broadcasting, Manheim, Dent Wizard, Cox Communications, Inc., and AutoTrader.com).

Prior to joining CEI, Dixon owned and operated Lifestyle Marketing Group, a sales promotion and sponsorship agency that produced award-winning integrated campaigns for companies such as Xerox, Coca-Cola, GMC, and Buick. In addition, he sold sponsorships for the U.S. Olympic Committee as well as the Olympic Games in Atlanta (1996), Lillihammer (1994), Albertville (1992) and Barcelona (1992). Don also ran Saatchi and Saatchi Marketing Services and was the director of sports programming at Anheuser Busch.

Dixon is currently president of the Promotional Marketing Association's Southeast Chapter and he is a past board member for the Council of Sales Promotion Agencies and an annual guest lecturer for the Advertising Education Foundation on college campuses.
