Auction Parking Site No Longer An Issue

SCOTTSDALE, AZ - The Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction has backed off from a potential fight with competitor Russo and Steele about a parcel of state trust land southeast of Scottsdale Road and Loop 101, according to The Arizona Republic.
Auction owner Craig Jackson sent a letter to Arizona State Land Commissioner Mark Winkleman withdrawing his request to lease the 12-acre site.
Russo and Steele, which holds its car auction during the same January time slot as Barrett-Jackson, has operated near and on the site for seven years. In March, the State Land Department informed the smaller auction that it had gone outside its boundaries and would need to apply for a permit.
Drew Alcazar, owner of Russo and Steele, started the permit process only to find that Jackson also had applied for the same 12-acre site.
Scottsdale has opened negotiations for enough decent parking for the auctions that the 12-acre site, not close enough to WestWorld, was no longer needed, Jackson said.
