CARMEL, IN – ADESA Corp. has announced that Internet-only purchases have increased 800 percent since launching ADESA DealerBlock in fall 2006 and it will waive the buyer fee for all DealerBlock open-sale purchases made during the month of March (U.S. only).

ADESA DealerBlock includes both Bid Now and Buy Now functionality that features competitive online bidding or 24/7 Buy Now pricing on used vehicles.

“Many of our customers are now using DealerBlock on a regular basis to post vehicles before and after they run through the lanes, taking advantage of the opportunity to showcase their inventory to online bidders. DealerBlock gives sellers great exposure to a huge audience of potential buyers with more than 4.5 million logins each year to our main site, ADESA.com,” said Chuck Tapp, executive vice president of sales & marketing.

“ADESA’s DealerBlock system assists Toyota Financial Services by reducing days to sell while providing a highly effective sales channel for Toyota dealers,” said Carl Scandura, national remarketing manager for Toyota Financial Services.

In an ADESA Bid Now auction, vehicles are offered in a competitive bidding environment utilizing AutoBid (proxy or absentee bidding) and real-time bidding functionality on ADESA.com. Bid Now Internet auctions take place during a scheduled timeframe. Dealers participating in a Bid Now auction bid only against other dealers who are logged in at ADESA.com or against the AutoBids that dealers have already entered. At the end of the designated time, and as long as there are not any other competitive bids still coming through, the bidder with the highest bid wins the vehicle. Otherwise, Bid Now auctions extend by a few minutes whenever there are still dealers wishing to compete on specific vehicles.

Vehicles are also available for Buy Now purchase on ADESA.com. In a Buy Now offering, dealers can immediately buy a vehicle at the “Buy Now” static price. Condition reports and photos are available for all online inventory, assuring dealers that the vehicles meet their expectations.

Registered dealers can view and bid on DealerBlock inventory by logging on at www.ADESA.com, clicking on the “Purchase Online” tab, and selecting the DealerBlock option.

ADESA.com also offers dealers online tools for car buyers:

  • Notify Me — allows buyers to save their favorite searches and receive optional daily personal e-mail updates when the inventory they are looking for becomes available, including vehicles posted on DealerBlock.

  • Market Guide — allows buyers to research current pricing on the vehicles they are interested in before bidding.

  • Run Lists — allows buyers to search and print information on vehicles coming up for sale. New inventory is refreshed every hour so the list is always updated.
