ProovStation, a maker of artificial intelligence-assisted automated vehicle valuation, demonstrated its 360° AI-powered car inspection scanner at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.

So far, 28+ million scans have already been performed worldwide. Boosted by AI, the ProovStation scanner automatically inspects the car’s exterior during the check-in and check-out process and generates a complete damage report within seconds. The technology eliminates the frustrating, manual, and time-consuming process which is a source of tension for dealers and their customers.

ProovStation promotes transparency and trust in the car rental industry with a 100% automated, transparent, and accurate solution.

The scanner can spot dents, dings, or scratches, which documents them on a full damage report. Pre-checkout, 300 "before images" are saved and can be used in claims if needed. After drop-off, relevant damages are identified, pertinent ones are classified, and data is linked to previous scans to ensure new damages are flagged.

For a car rental company, this process improves the flow in and out of their sites and can save hundreds of hours per month spent in inspection or liability discussions that can be freed up for other high value-added tasks. Companies also can avoid losing millions of dollars each year in undetected damage.

Rental car customers are able to avoid time-consuming inspections while trying to catch a flight on time, as well as charges for damages they did not cause.

ProovStation scanner is based on a unique technology that combines a new generation AI, NVIDIA graphics cards, and a state-of-the-art optronic system (8 cameras, 4K definition) to perform a 360° scan of the car within seconds.

More than 300 HD images are taken and analyzed by its algorithms before completing a diagnosis. Covering all angles, the scanner can identity the damages and automatically generates a report which includes vehicle information, damage list, and tire information. All reports are timestamped, geolocated and secure.

Following five years of research and development, ProovStation has achieved these results:

  • 200 units sold worldwide

  • 28+ Million scans already performed

  • 12 countries across Europe and US

  • Covers both the check-in and check-out process

  • Works on all types and makes of vehicles regardless of age and mileage

  • Easy to deploy on all sites: airports, train stations, etc.
