Manheim has expanded the role of its vice president of digital inventory solutions, Derek Hansen, bringing on additional responsibilities and a new title, according to a company announcement.
Effective this week, Hansen will hold the title of vice president of offsite solutions.
In his expanded role, he will oversee all of Manheim’s digital and mobile offsite solutions, which include OVE and Bid Lot. In addition, he will work closely with Zach Hallowell, vice president of Manheim Digital Marketplace and RMS Automotive for all key decisions related to OVE.com and Manheim.com marketplaces.
Hansen first joined the Cox Automotive in January 2015 as senior director of strategic planning. In 2016, Hansen was promoted to vice president of digital inventory solutions, where he was responsible for Manheim’s digital operations.
“As our digital marketplaces continue to grow and scale, we are committed to improving our technology platform and services,” said Nick Peluso, president of Manheim Digital Marketplace and RMS Automotive. “We plan to constantly introduce new features, all of which is aimed to enhance the customer experience.”
According to Manheim, offsite solutions is a growing a segment within Manheim’s business. Today, simulcast sales account for over half of Manheim’s sale attendance. In 2017, Manheim sold 215,000 vehicles outside of its physical auction facilities through digital and mobile platforms.
