The American Vehicle Owners Alliance (AVOA) announced two new members of the American Automotive Leasing Association (AALA) and the National League of Cities (NLC).

“We’re proud to welcome the American Automotive Leasing Association and the National League of Cities as our newest members,” said Richard Ward, executive director of AVOA. “Our wide-ranging membership speaks to just how important vehicle data ownership is for everyone. AALA and NLC joining our coalition further emphasize that vehicle data access is about consumer rights, public safety, taxpayer accountability, and community resilience.”

AVOA provides vehicle owners with full data access and control, offering access across privacy, cybersecurity, competition, consumer protection, economic growth, mobility, property rights, and safety.

AALA is committed to representing the best interests of the fleet leasing industry, which is why we’re thrilled to join AVOA and take an active role in their advocacy at the national and state level,” said Greg Cohen, executive director at the AALA. "We need secure, standardized data frameworks to promote competition and innovation and keep fleets running.

NLC represents over 2,700 city governments nationwide, domestic and international companies, and family-owned businesses, all of which are looking to Congress to ensure that vehicle owners have full control over their data.

“As cities embrace new mobility technologies, putting residents in control of their vehicle data fosters trust, safeguards privacy, and fuels innovation,” said Clarence E. Anthony, CEO & executive director of the National League of Cities. “We’re pleased to join AVOA and look forward to further engagement with policymakers and stakeholders to protect Americans and their data.”
