Cox Automotive recently named Peter Grupposo as senior vice president of sales overseeing the commercial Sales, dealer sales and market insights teams for Manheim and NextGear Capital, succeeding Holly Capps who is retiring from the position at the end of 2022 after 25-years with the company.
Most recently, Grupposo served as vice president of dealer sales. In this role, he was responsible for leading Manheim and NextGear Capital’s field sales teams nationwide who represent a broad range of inventory solutions for dealer clients. In this role since 2017, his sales strategy delivered strong growth across the company’s inventory platforms, including DealShield, Ready Logistics and Manheim Express.
Grupposo began his automotive career in 2003 in the management trainee program at Enterprise Rent-a-Car. In 2005, he joined Dealer Services Corporation (DSC) as a field sales representative, and then general manager, before Manheim acquired DSC in 2012. Since then, he has assumed roles of increasing responsibility within the Cox Automotive family, including vice president of operations and business development for NextGear Capital, vice president of national accounts for Manheim, and Manheim’s vice president of inventory solutions commercial and wholesale sales.
Capps’s tenure as senior vice president of sales was defined by a relentless focus and customized approach to each client’s business needs, driving new growth and increased market share. She joined Cox Automotive in 2017 as vice president of commercial sales for Manheim, leading a team of sales leaders and strategic account managers and helping to deliver sizable revenue growth. Previously, she spent 20 years with Cox Communications, earning five management and executive-level promotions, culminating in her role as group vice president.
“There is no question, Holly’s vision and execution have made an incredible mark on this company, and her positive impact will last for many years to come,” said Tim McKinley, chief sales officer of Cox Automotive, in a Sept. 7 news release announcing the management moves. “We can’t thank Holly enough for her many contributions and wish her all the best in the next chapter.”
Over the next few months, Capps will work closely with Grupposo to ensure a seamless transition with team members and clients. “I am confident Pete will build on Holly’s strategic thinking and be instrumental in driving critical, enterprise-wide imperatives across the business,” McKinley said.
