Retiring General Motors remarketing manager Dan Kennedy accepted the Industry Leadership award from Bobit Business Media at the 2017 Conference of Automotive Remarketing (CAR).
Kennedy, who spent 31 of his 39 years with GM in the OEM's remarketing organization, announced his retirement on Feb. 17. He plans to leave his role by June 1.
"I'm proud to have been a member of a great team," Kennedy said. "I'm grateful to all of you."
Kennedy accepted the award from Sherb Brown, vice president and group publisher for Bobit Business Media's AutoGroup, at a March 1 ceremony at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. The award recognizes Kennedy for his leadership and contribution to the remarketing industry.
"There is a reason why Dan Kennedy was inducted in the NAAA Fleet Hall of Fame and was named Consignor of the Year in 2012 by Bobit Business Media," Automotive Fleet Magazine Editor and Associate Publisher Mike Antich said prior to the presentation. "Dan is universally recognized as a quintessential remarketer by his year-after-year track record of superbly managing one of the largest used-vehicle portfolios in our industry."
Kennedy settled into the GM’s remarketing organization in April of 1986. In June 2010, he was named as the manager of Remarketing for General Motors. In 2012, Kennedy was awarded the Consignor of the Year award at the 2012 CAR, a conference produced by Bobit, which also publishes the Vehicle Remarketing Reporter weekly newsletter.
In recent years, the Industry Leadership award has been given to ARI's Bob Graham and Black Book's Ricky Beggs for their contributions to the industry.
