After 39 years with General Motors — 31 of which were spent with the OEM’s remarketing organization — Manager of GM Remarketing Dan Kennedy has announced his intent to retire from the company.

His final work date is still being determined, but he’s expecting the date to come before June 1, 2017.

“Over the years I have been very fortunate and blessed to develop many professional relationships as well as friendships with many of you,” Kennedy said in his announcement. “I cherish the past 31 years and sincerely appreciate all your efforts over the years helping me, and the GM team, to be successful through some very interesting and challenging times. I have very fond memories of these times, all the various adventures we have shared and our accomplishments.”

Kennedy, who was an accountant by training, first joined GM’s Staff Accounting Services in 1978. He held various positions in several departments for a few years until he settled into the OEM’s remarketing organization in April of 1986. In June 2010, he was named as the manager of Remarketing for General Motors.

In 2012, Kennedy was awarded the Consignor of the Year award at the 2012 Conference of Automotive Remarketing, a conference produced by Bobit Business Media.

In his retirement, Kennedy said, he looks forward to spending more time with his wife, daughter, son, and their spouses; indulging in some charitable work; and seeing where life takes him.
