KENLY, N.C. – Kenneth Wayne Aycock, of Aycock Auto Auction, located in Kenly, passed away in his home Nov. 7, 2006, at the age of 68.

"Kenny" as his friends and associates knew him, was the recipient of the Bernie Hart Memorial Auctioneer Award in 2000. Aycock began his auctioneer career in 1957 and attended the Reisch American School of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa. His first job was as an automobile auctioneer at Mann's Auto Auction in Raleigh, N.C. Aycock's commitment to auctioneering excellence made him one of the most desired auctioneers in the South, up until his death, where he had auctioneer licenses in six states.

In 1984, Aycock opened his own automobile auction, Aycock Auto Auction, in his hometown of Kenly. In 1988, he sold the auction but remained general manager until 1996. His devotion to the Kenly community and to helping others less fortunate continued when he served on the Development Committee and received the Distinguished Citizen Award in 1988 for his selfless contributions.

Aycock is survived by his wife, Mae Aycock; daughter, Ellie Aycock Johnson; granddaughters, Heather Ann and Amanda Dale Aycock.
