AUBURN HILLS, MI – Chrysler Group reported sales of its Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles (CPOV) for May 2005 of 7,961 units, a decrease of 6 percent from May 2004 sales of 8,466 units. Year-to-date sales are 44,523 units, an increase of 5 percent from the same period last year and outpacing the overall industry CPOV segment growth of 3 percent.
Chrysler Group's May marketshare in the CPOV segment held steady at 6.2 percent. Year-to-date marketshare improved over the same period in 2004 to 6.7 percent from 6.5 percent.
For a vehicle to be certified under the Chrysler Group's used-vehicle program, it must be a 2000 through 2005 model pre-owned vehicle with less than 65,000 miles, and pass a 125-point inspection. Chrysler Group certified pre-owned vehicles are backed by an eight-year/80,000 mile powertrain limited warranty, a three-month or 3,000 mile maximum care warranty, 24-hour, 365-day full roadside assistance, and $35 per day rental car allowance.
Marketed as "Brand Spankin' Used," Chrysler Group's Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles are sold only through Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep dealerships that have earned the Five Star Certification. Five Star Certification is a validation of the dealership's facilities, operational processes, salesperson and technician training accreditation, as well as customer satisfaction survey ratings. Approximately 2,400 Chrysler Group dealerships in the U.S. are certified Five Star dealers.
