The International Automotive Remarketers Alliance (IARA) announced the appointment of Don Fowler to the position of treasurer for the Alliance.

“I have had the opportunity during my career to work in many facets of the industry and I believe that the IARA is the best forum for remarketing professionals to meet and discuss initiatives, developments, and issues that affect their respective businesses,” Fowler said. “I appreciate the trust that the board of directors has placed in me to perform the responsibilities associated with being the treasurer of the Alliance.”

Fowler, manager of new business for DataScan Field Services, has been a member of the IARA board of directors for more than eight years, chairman of the membership committee for six years, and, most recently, served as chairman of the search committee for an executive director in 2013.

“The treasurer position carries a great amount of fiduciary responsibility, and the work involved requires a dedicated volunteer," said Levi McCoy, president of the IARA.

According to Tony Long, executive director for the IARA, "Don’s election by the board reflects trust and respect from his peers."

Fowler has nearly 40 years of remarketing expertise, starting at PHH Corporation of Maryland in 1974. Throughout his career, he has held executive sales and marketing positions with such major corporations as GE Capital Fleet Services, ServNet, Manheim, and ADESA.

He also has extensive experience working with independent automotive auctions in North and South Carolina. Additionally, Fowler assisted Autodaq, an Internet auction provider, and United Road, a vehicle transportation company, to expand their remarketing services nationally.

Fowler earned a bachelor’s degree from Towson State University and is a United States Navy veteran.
