The Conference of Automotive Remarketing brought together more than 400 remarketing and automotive industry professionals March 18-20 at the Sheraton Marina San Diego for three days of business interactions of all types. Working with its longtime partner, the Automotive Remarketing Alliance, the event spanned a wide range of topics, issues, ideas, data, and solutions that all point to an industry transforming through technology.

The Southern California "last week of winter" brought idyllic daytime warmth and sun. No more than a jacket required.

New friends can emerge anywhere during a conference that thrives on business networking.

25 sponsors, such as Vitu, made the event possible through their generous support.

Like many vendor exhibitors, Run Buggy offered some practical demos of products and services to help remarketing businesses improve performance.

The session agenda featured a panel comprised of leaders from the Global Remarketing Opportunities for Women (GROW), a professional group dedicated to career support and advancement.

Auction Academy, a professional development school for all types of auction leaders and workers, held its Class 8 graduation ceremony on March 19 during the event.

This was the last CAR conference for Layne Weber, senior director of wholesale remarketing at Avis Budget Group, who is retiring after 40+ years in vehicle consignment and remarketing roles, and support of the ARA.

Sponsor exhibit tables, such as this one from AutoNation Auto Auction, lined the high-traffic corridor "lobby" outside of the session rooms.

Former remarketing executive turned career- and life-coach Joe Miller (L) shared his beatific presence and sage advice with attendees during the event.

Holly Vollant, Steve Leach, and Jim Jackson of Holman Fleet celebrate at the annual Consignors Awards, which kick-start the conference each year.

You can assume these attendees will be off to a business dinner, which is a common evening pursuit at the CAR conference.

The scenic Harbor Drive waterfront along San Diego Bay served as the backdrop to two networking events in the hotel gardens.
