As your professional alliance, the International Automotive Remarketers Alliance (IARA) wants to ensure that we meet member and industry needs today and in the future. Many programs are being developed with feedback and input from members who look to the IARA to provide the educational resources they need to succeed. The IARA is dedicated to equipping its members with the knowledge and understanding, along with new and better skills, to successfully adapt to the rapidly changing world of remarketing.

With this goal in mind, the IARA is currently developing an Online Remarketing Orientation program designed to acquaint new hires in the remarketing industry with a broad overview of what the industry does. An IARA committee is actively engaged in developing the course modules, which will cover the major tasks and activities that the various segments in the remarketing industry perform.

Individual course module topics will include:

  • Vehicle Segments/Markets.
  • Factors Affecting Vehicle Values.
  • Guidebook Vehicle Valuations.
  • Transportation Process.
  • Inspection Process
  • Upstream Process.
  • Reconditioning Process.
  • Auction Process.
  • Selling Process.
  • VIN Characteristics.
  • Title Process.
  • Ethics.
  • Terminology.

Developed by industry experts, each module will take a student 45 minutes or less to complete. The IARA plans to utilize a noted university to develop and administer the course in an online Web environment for ease of access and use.

The IARA is dedicated to developing a quality, real-world, online remarketing orientation program for working professionals. We will deliver this information to the industry in an interactive, self-administered, computer-based program via the Internet.

A progress report on the development of this exciting new educational tool will be presented at the IARA Roundtable meeting, scheduled Jan. 21, at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas.

As an organization with representation from all segments of the remarketing industry, our members form a strong alliance united in spirit and commitment to this industry. Now it’s your turn. Get involved! Do it for what you have to give, not for what you’ll get back.
