Hallett, a natural born Canadian citizen, and his family began the American naturalization procedure in 1999 with a mandatory Green Card status. In addition to holding the Green Card, the citizenship process includes taking photographs, submitting an application for citizenship, getting fingerprinted, being interviewed, and taking an English and civics test. Once all requirements have been completed, applicants receive a decision and an oath is taken before the U.S. Department of Justice. Hallett and his family took their vows during a Naturalization Oath Ceremony on Feb. 3 at the Indianapolis U.S. District Court.
