Trucks outperformed cars last week, driven in large part by the strength of compact vans, according to Black Book’s May 8 Market Insights report.

Compared to the week before, average compact van wholesale values were up 0.89%, according to Black Book data. Other strong performers in the truck segment included sub-compact luxury crossovers, small pickups, and mid-size crossovers/SUVs.

“The wholesale market held steady last week with stable values across most segments. Auction consignments were reported to be low for this time of the year,” said Anil Goyal, senior vice president of automotive valuation and analytics.

Some of the best-performing vehicles in the car segment included sporty cars, prestige luxury cars, and near luxury cars, which saw average wholesale values go up by 0.19%, 0.14%, and 0.06%, respectively. Meanwhile, the worst-performing vehicles included compact cars and mid-size cars, which saw values go down by 0.89% and 0.44%, respectively.
