Manheim has announced three key sustainability goals for 2017: offsetting carbon emissions by 3,000 tons at its facilities, saving 2.5 million gallons of water, and achieving zero waste to landfill at one site.

These sustainability goals are part Cox Enterprises’, Manheim’s parent company, national sustainability program Cox Conserves. Through Cox Conserves, Cox is committed to sending zero waste to landfill by 2024 and becoming carbon and water neutral by 2044, according to the company.

“Environmental stewardship has long been a part of our values and beliefs at Cox and Manheim, driving how we operate our businesses,” said Janet Barnard, president of Inventory Solutions at Cox Automotive. “I’m proud of our teams who are helping us drive these important goals and doing what is right for our customers, communities and each other.”

Manheim, in particular, has played and continues to play a significant role in helping Cox achieve its sustainability goals, according to the company. In 2016, Manheim saved 4.2 million gallons of water, offset 1,855 tons of carbon, and diverted 7,860 tons of waste from the landfill through various conservation strategies.

Since the inception of the Cox Conserves in 2007, Manheim’s 127 traditional and mobile locations have offset 22,934 tons of carbon, diverted 23,579 tons of waste from the landfill, and saved 57 million gallons of water since 2007.
