ORLANDO, FL— Paul Lips assumed the office of president of the National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) at the organization’s 64th annual conference in Orlando, Fla. NAAA represents more than 300 member auctions in North America.

Previously Lips has served on various NAAA committees, including the Standards Committee as well as the former Education and Quad Zone committees representing his company, ADESA, where he is the executive vice president of operations and finance. As a member of the NAAA Executive Committee, Lips spent the past two years traveling with the leadership team visiting auctions and other members of the remarketing community.

“Serving NAAA in those capacities gave me a greater appreciation for the importance of unity, which I have chosen as the theme for my presidency,” Lips said. “Joining in unison and working together is key to the future success of the association and the auto auction industry. As president I will strive to strengthen the bonds NAAA has fostered among our members and give us a single, powerful voice in the industry.”

Lips, a Certified Public Account, joined ADESA’s finance department in 1996, becoming its corporate controller just a year later. In 2001 he was again promoted to chief financial officer, and in 2004 was appointed to the position of vice president of investor relations and planning for ADESA, Inc. Lips was a key member of ADESA’s management team as the company grew from about 25 auctions to over 50 auctions before the company went public in 2004. The following year he was named senior vice president of operations for the corporation.

In his current position as executive vice president, Lips is responsible for overseeing the corporate and field accounting teams, the auction dealer registration and office departments and ADESA’s PDR subsidiary, Dent Demon.

Prior to joining ADESA, Lips spent six years with an Indianapolis company, Geo. S. Olive & Co. (now BKD, LLC), managing audits of multiple clients in various industries.

A native of South Bend, Indiana, Lips and his wife, Margaret, reside in Noblesville, Indiana, with their two young daughters. He belongs to the Indiana Certified Public Accountants Society and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
