ATLANTA – Manheim Pennsylvania and VW Credit, Inc. (VCI) partnered to host a premier sales event on June 7, 2012. More than 300 Volkswagen and Audi vehicles were sold in-lane and online, with 97 percent of the VCI vehicles offered being sold.
In conjunction with the event, Manheim Pennsylvania welcomed Andrew Stuart, president & CEO of VCI. Stuart toured the 21,000 square-foot facility that houses 24 bays and 15 lifts, and has a 300 to 400 vehicle per week capacity. In 2011, VW and Audi enhanced more than 4,000 vehicles through this facility.
“We have had a long-standing relationship with VCI for more than 20 years,” said Tim Van Dam, vice president and general manager of Manheim Pennsylvania. “In addition to general manager of dealer remarketing Mark Ilijanic’s terrific support of this sale, we were extremely honored to host Andrew Stuart at the largest auction-based technical operations center in North America for VW and Audi.”
The facility employs both Manheim, VW and Audi technicians, who perform everything from minor mechanical and cosmetic repairs to major component repairs, in an effort to enhance the value of vehicles and make them frontline-ready.
VCI offers the only “buy back” center in North America, where cars with issues that cannot be diagnosed, are accepted from dealers and re-sold as “buy backs” via auction channels. Manheim operates nine Technical Operations Centers for VCI around the country.
As part of Manheim’s company-wide conservation initiatives, the facility utilizes hot-water part washers rather than solvent and will have the capacity to recycle oil filters with specially installed filter crushers.
