VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Tidewater Auto Auction’s (TWAA) new facility in Virginia Beach, Va., is almost complete and should be open by mid-April.

Construction on the new facility began in July 2010, but recent snow and ice storms have delayed the timing of the originally anticipated mid-March completion schedule. So far, TWAA has completed paving of 88 acres, according to the company.

The new auction, located 15 minutes from the Norfolk International Airport, will be comprised of three buildings: an eight lane administrative building, a three lane registration building, and a full reconditioning and mechanical facility. No body shop is planned at this time. Currently, body services are performed off-site.

According to Mike Hockett, president of TWAA, the facility will be “one of the most high-tech, fully automated auctions anywhere.”

TWAA has also added OnLineRingman and OVE to its auction platform so inventory can be bought and sold online.
