OKLAHOMA CITY - Auction customers and employees banded together in December to help children in Oklahoma City with a toy drive that culminated at the Christmas Sale on December 23rd at Dealers Auto Auction of Oklahoma City (DAA/OKC). Throughout the month of December, DAA/OKC sponsored a Toys for Kids Drive, which was supported by both customers and employees who helped brighten Christmas for children in the community.
According to Bruce Beam, auction general manager, the auction collected both unwrapped toys and cash donations.
"The Holiday season is a wonderful time of year, when we pause to have fun and enjoy the friendships we've developed over the years," said Beam. "However, it's also a time to pull together to help those less fortunate than ourselves. With the support of our customers and the auction staff, we collected more than 300 toys, which we donated to Baptist Hospital and Children's Hospital here in Oklahoma City. We hope that in some small way our efforts helped lift the spirits of children who weren't able to spend Christmas at home this year."
Beam noted that the auction also celebrated the holidays with a special gift-giving activity concluding the Christmas Sale on December 23rd. Ten names were drawn from among the day's buyers and sellers for the opportunity to play a "Dirty Santa" game, where the participants had the opportunity to "steal" gifts from one another.
"Nearly everyone stayed to the end of the sale to watch the fun," said Beam. The gifts included a Garmin GPS, Best Buy gift cards, Wal-Mart gift cards, a digital camera kit, a 100-piece tool set, a jump start box, and last but not least, two turkeys.
