WAVERLY, NY - Twenty years ago, on March 8, 1990, State Line Auto Auction in Waverly, N.Y., conducted its first-ever General Motors sale. Since then, State Line has sold close to 240,000 vehicles for GM, and proudly celebrated its enduring relationship with GM at its factory-sponsored auction on March 25.

As the only GM sponsored auction in New York, State Line has enjoyed the affiliation and commerce that has been established, notes Jeff Barber, president and owner of State Line Auto Auction.

"Without question, our status as a General Motors sponsored auction has paid great benefits to State Line over the past twenty years" remarked Barber. "It is amazing to consider the changes that have transpired since that day in 1990 when we held our first GM Sale."

"To use a baseball analogy, I often tell my employees that having a GM Sale is like having a major league franchise: customers want to go where the best cars and the best players are, and that has benefited us at State Line for two decades," continued Barber. "Because of our GM affiliation, we have been able to provide ALL of our customers, both buyers and sellers, with the best services available in the auction business!"

State Line Auto Auction has proved a consistent performer for General Motors in the Northeast Region since its inaugural sale in 1990. The auction has received seven awards in recognition of its efforts over the years, including GM's top award in the nation for Operational Excellence in 2007.

"GM has enjoyed a strong relationship with the State Line Auto Auction team over the past 20 years. Along with his team, Jeff has continued to provide our customers with unwavering commitment and consistent value," notes Dan Kennedy, national sales manager, GM Remarketing. "Furthermore, he and his team use every sale to improve their efforts in meeting our dealers' needs through reconditioning, repairing and presenting our used vehicles in the best and most effective manner."

"We are very proud to have shared our success with General Motors and GMAC, said Barber. "With the turbulent conditions that exist in today's market, we are committed to giving GM and GMAC our very best efforts to help them remain a strong force in the industry."

The General Motors sponsored auction on March 25 featured a celebration which recognized dealers who had attended the very first auction. State Line's reputation as "The Best in the Bidness" was exemplified by the great turnout and festive atmosphere.

State Line Auto Auction is a founding member of ServNet, a premier group of independent auto auctions from across the United States.
