TORRANCE, CA - Bobit Business Media and Vehicle Remarketing magazine presented the Remarketer of the Year award to Bob McConkey, co-owner of DAA Northwest/Kansas City Independent Auto Auction at the Conference of Automotive Remarketing (CAR 2010) at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Award Qualification requirements include:

    2.Created, embraced, and implemented industry innovations.

    3.Moved the industry forward with professionalism and the highest standards.

    4.Willingly shared expertise and skills to advance the industry.

    5.Participated in industry associations and groups.

    6.Served as mentors and/or role models in developing the next generation of remarketing professionals.

McConkey began his career in the industry at South Seattle Auto Auction. From there, he went on to serve as general manager of Southern California Auto Auction, doubling its size and making it the world’s largest auto auction in just three years. In 1992, he and his best friend and business partner Greg Mahugh founded DAA Northwest in Spokane, Washington. Today, DAA is one of the largest and most respected independent auto auctions in the nation.

McConkey became co-owner of Kansas City Independent Auto Auction in 2009. Together with partners Doug Doll and Gregg Boswell, he is active in administering the auction’s operations and strategies.

McConkey is very active within the auto auction industry. He is the past president of the National Auto Auction Association (NAAA) and has served on numerous NAAA committees and has been Chairman of the Board of ServNet. Most recently, McConkey championed strategic cooperation and standardization within the industry while serving as president of the NAAA in 2009.
