PORTLAND, OR - Brasher’s Cascade Auto Auction pulled out all the stops to celebrate Brasher’s 59th anniversary on October 16.

At a sale that included more than 1,200 vehicles and was attended by 624 bidders, the auction gave away more than $5,000 in trips and prizes, including NASCAR remote-controlled cars, commemorative hats, and three trips to Las Vegas, NV for the “drive of a lifetime” at Richard Petty’s Ultimate Driving Experience.

Celebrated as the “Brasher 500”, the October 16 sale at the Cascade Auto Auction included a large consignment of units from area new and used car dealerships as well as vehicles from Honda Remarketing, Acura Remarketing, Reliable Credit, Wachovia Dealer Services, OnPoint Community Credit Union, Drive, Columbia CU, PHH, AMS, RSA, GSA, People’s Credit, United Auto Credit and Mike Albert Leasing.

The first Brasher auction was founded in 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah by Frank and Esther Brasher. Today, there are six Brasher auctions, in Salt Lake City, Sacramento, Reno, Boise, Eugene, and Portland. Founded in 1993 in Lake Oswego, Oregon, Cascade Auto auction moved to its present state-of-the-art facility in Portland in 1995.

“We’re proud to be a part of the Brasher organization, which is not only one of the oldest in the country but includes some of the finest facilities you’ll find anywhere in the U.S.,” said General Manager Jerry Hinton. “We look forward to this celebration every year, as our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our customers for supporting Brasher’s Cascade Auto Auction.”

Hinton noted that in addition to the grand prize drawings, the auction offered a number of prizes and incentives throughout the sale, including $59 floats on all dealer vehicles for qualified buyers. Scratch-off tickets at the door gave every dealer who attended the chance to win gift cards, floats, hats and an additional grand prize drawing entry for the Richard Petty driving experience.

Customers picked their favorite NASCAR drive for a chance to win auction cash credits, and everyone enjoyed “ultimate” biscuits ad gravy, eggs & bacon, huge doughnuts and Popeyes chicken.

Winning the remote controlled cars, which are capable of racing speeds up to 120 mph were Dan Murphy with Lee Murphy Auto Sales of Cornelius, OR; Vahid Tajadod with 82nd Auto Mall of Portland; Sholeh Vaday with Royal Motors of Portland; and Johnny Ephrem of JB Motors of Portland. Winning the Richard Petty driving experience were Sholeh Vaday with Royal Motors from Portland; Michael Fesser with M & R Auto Sales of Portland; and Mikie John of Tony’s Auto Sales of Portland.
