FREDERICK, MD - The National Auto Auction Association (NAAA)announced that Dr. Ira Silver has been named NAAA Economist.

Dr. Silver is currently an Associate Professor of Professional Practice in Managerial Economic at the M.J. Neely School of Business at Texas Christian University (TCU). He will continue at the TCU while serving NAAA on a part-time basis.

NAAA President John Rea said, "The Association is extremely

fortunate to have Dr. Silver join us. He will bring more than thirty years of experience in economics, business analysis and

forecasting to the auto auction industry. He has considerable

experience as a Chief Economist which makes him ideally

suited for this important position."

Dr. Silver has served as Chief Economist at J.C. Penny where

he has spent most of his career. He began his career as a

Regional Economist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

then moved to the Bank of New York, where he was in charge

of industry forecasting. He has been a visiting Professor of

Economics and Finance at the University of Dallas and the

University of Texas at Dallas, Baruch College, and Fordham

University. He is currently serving as the Economic Consultant

to the G7 Group in Washington/New York and continues to

reside in Plano, Texas.

Dr. Silver has a Ph.D. in Economics from the City University

of New York. He has been published in The Economy at a

Glance; Monthly Economic Update; Economic & Industry

Comments (an internal newsletter for JC Penney); Economic

Comments, Industry Studies, Industry Indicators, Conference

Board, and in Sales Forecasting (publications of the Bank of

New York, Economics Department).
