ATLANTA – Atlanta-based Cox Auto Trader has appointed Joe George, 40, vice president of strategy and business development. Reporting to Sandy Schwartz, president, George will be responsible for maximizing value and implementing synergies across Cox Auto Trader companies and identifying potential partnerships and business alliances across all of Cox Enterprises’ subsidiaries.

George began his career with Cox at Manheim in 1990 as a marketing and arbitration manager. A series of promotions followed, including assistant auction general manager of sales and marketing for Manheim’s Ohio Auto Auction. In 1998, he joined the newly launched AutoTrader.com as director of dealer services and served in many roles, including vice president of dealer services, chief product officer, and, most recently, senior vice president. His responsibilities included customer service, product strategy, and key areas of operations and day-to-day relationship management with Manheim and Trader Publishing Company.
