FORT WORTH, TEXAS – AmeriCredit has begun originating automobile loans in British Columbia and central/northern Alberta, Canada. A local sales representative in each region will serve these dealers. For additional support, the company will open a second Canadian credit center in Burnaby, B.C., by the end of the year to be closer to auto dealers in western Canada.
AmeriCredit’s credit center in Mississauga, Ontario, will continue servicing dealers in eastern Canada. Because of the time-zone difference, the Burnaby centre will service eastern Canadian dealers working extended hours. AmeriCredit’s Canadian funding team, based at the company’s collection centre in Peterborough, Ontario, will continue to fund all Canadian business.
AmeriCredit’s Canadian sales representatives currently serve about 350 dealers throughout Ontario, Atlantic Canada, southern Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. The company plans to enter the Quebec market in early 2007.
AmeriCredit re-entered the Canadian auto finance market in May 2006. The company previously originated loans in Canada from 1998-2003, when it exited the market due to company restructuring. AmeriCredit has since continued to operate its collection center with more than 400 team members in Peterborough, in addition to collection centers in the U.S.
