ATLANTA - Trent Knox has joined Manheim’s Fowles Auction Group in Australia as the national dealer consignment manager, it was announced on Nov. 2.

Knox, the former president of Auction Broadcasting Company (ABC), will be based in his hometown of Sydney.

“We feel very fortunate that Trent has joined the Manheim team,” said Mike Langhorne, Manheim senior vice president, international operations. “He is a respected and experienced leader in our industry, and he will help our operations expand in a market we are very excited about. His knowledge, not only of the country itself but of the inherent similarities and differences between the U.S. and Australian markets, is invaluable.”

Fowles Auction Group is based in Melbourne and oversees 10 auctions in Australia and New Zealand. Although many of the auctions are small by U.S. standards, there is a growing need for experienced remarketing executives as Australian dealers look to further incorporate auctions into their remarketing strategy.

Knox has extensive experience in the remarketing industry. He served as president of ABC in Indianapolis, Ind., since its founding in 2000, leading the company on several successful initiatives and growing it from one auction to 10. Previously, he owned Western Michigan Auto Auction, which later became the first ABC auction, ABC West Michigan. He started in the business with various roles with Anglo American Auction and ADT Automotive, which was acquired by Manheim in 2000, eventually working his way through ADESA’s auction network and into regional management.
