ATLANTA – Manheim-sponsored auctioneers placed in the top four positions at the 2005 World Auctioneer Championships held at Manheim’s Dallas Auto Auction on April 23, including champion Spanky Assiter of Dallas.

In addition to champion Assiter, other top Manheim finishers in the auctioneer competition included Scott Goodhue, Manheim’s Colorado Auto Auction (2nd place), Phil Faulkner, Manheim’s Toronto Auto Auction (3rd place), and Cheri Boots-Sutton, Manheim’s Dallas Auto Auction (4th place).

Manheim-sponsored auctioneers also fared well in the ringman and team competitions. Jonathan McGuire, sponsored by Manheim’s Colorado Auto Auction, was the winner in the ringman competition, while Assiter and Clint Minchew, both of Dallas Auto Auction, placed second in the team competition (winners were Dustin Taylor and Jeff Bynum of Chattanooga Auto Auction).

In all, 69 auctioneers, 15 ringmen, and 14 teams representing both major auction companies and independent auctions in the U.S. and Canada took part in the competition. The event was covered by the television program American Hot Rod and will be shown on the Discovery Channel this summer.
