ATLANTA – Manheim Auctions Leeds (England) completed the sale of an eight-wheel cable crane for a record £266,000 ($510,000), the highest price Manheim has ever received for an individual item in its 60-year history.

Entered by XBG Fleet Remarketing Limited on behalf of one of its major utility clients, Manheim Leeds sold the Liebherr crane at its regular plant and machinery sale, receiving bids from Trinidad, Greece, and Ireland after the auction’s marketing team had promoted the sale to buyers around the world.

The 2001 crane had only 700 hours of working time on its clock and was in “immaculate condition,” according to Jeremy Martell of Manheim Leeds. A construction company working on a new building project in London was the winning bidder.

“These types of cranes rarely come up for sale at this age and condition, which explains the interest from buyers around the world,” Martell said. “Both buyer and seller were very satisfied with the result.”

Manheim operates 18 sites in the United Kingdom.
