The IARA has announced the founding of the Social Media Committee, which was created to streamline the IARA’s social media presence as a means to promote developments within the organization.

Committee activities will include posting developments from other IARA committees, promoting the annual IARA Summer Roundtable, and spreading the word about the Certified Automotive Remarketer (CAR) program.

The committee was founded when the IARA Board of Directors and Tony Long, CAR, executive director of the IARA, decided that undertaking a presence online required the need for its own committee. Initially, social media was handled by the technology committee, a committee that is designed to explore current and new technologies that may be applied to the remarketing industry.

The committee handles and monitors the organizations social media accounts, which includes, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, which has a public page and a members only page.

Katie Rushing, of Southeastern Auto Auction, was named chairwoman of the committee, and she serves alongside committee members Vick Kuzmenko, of PRA Logistics; Cynthia Meyer, of Liquid Motors; Scot Ford, of Auction Edge; Zach Leve, of RPM Freight Systems; Stacey Petras, of GM Financial; and Cassie Fennell, of Design Works.

“The goal is to get a presence out there on social media, and show what IARA does and how it benefits the members and what it can do for non-members,” said Rushing. “We want to showcase what our committees are working on.”

The committee meets on a bi-weekly basis to discuss goings-on within the organization. Rushing said the integration of social media into an all-new IARA website is an upcoming task the committee plans to address.
