Carmel, Ind.-based KAR Auction Services, Inc., a provider of used-vehicle auction services, announced that Michelle Kaiser Bray has joined KAR legal team as vice president, intellectual property and technology counsel. KAR Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Board Secretary Becca Polak made the announcement.

In her new role, Bray will assist the KAR legal team with matters relating to global technology transactions, privacy and data security, and intellectual property licensing and enforcement. She is a certified privacy professional (CIPP/US), who has worked regularly across industries and technology operations.

“Michelle is a well-respected legal professional, with a vast skill set of intellectual property experience in a wide variety of industries,” said Polak. “Her diverse expertise and track record of success make her the perfect fit for our legal team.”

Prior to joining KAR, Bray served as a partner for Indianapolis-based Faegre Baker Daniels, focusing on intellectual property, privacy and data security with multinational apparel brands and automobile and financial services companies.

Bray earned her bachelor’s degree in international business relations from Xavier University, juris doctor from The John Marshall Law School and master’s of law in trans-national business practice from the University of the Pacific (California)/University of Salzburg (Austria) McGeorge School of Law. She has earned multiple awards in her field of practice, including the Women in Law Award, Best Lawyers in America, Indianapolis Trademark Lawyer of the Year and Indiana Super Lawyers.

Bray currently serves on the National Advisory Board for the Women Like Us Foundation and is vice president of the Creative Arts Legal League. In addition to her civic activities, Bray is also an active member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
