With a need to source more used car inventory and find a better way to remarket trade-ins, Hendrick Automotive Group has partnered with Manheim to create its first onsite auction lane in Charleston, S.C.

The one-lane, newly retrofitted operation is located at Hendrick Automotive Group’s dealership facility in Charleston and takes wholesale trade-in vehicles from its 11 Charleston-area dealerships for sale. Similar to Manheim’s auction lane offering, the sale uses technology such as Simulcast, an auctioneer and auction block and Manheim employees. Since its opening on March 11, four sales have been held with 95 percent of the vehicles sold and an average of 140 dealers in attendance.

“This collaboration between Hendrick and Manheim has been a great solution for our needs,” says Chris Little, Hendrick Automotive Group’s vice president of variable operations. “The entire Manheim team worked with us to help create a solution that has helped us save time and money, and sell more vehicles.”

The sale, open to all registered dealers, is staffed by employees from Manheim Darlington and runs every Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Charleston. The sale is open to all registered dealers.

“Manheim and Hendrick Automotive Group make a great team because we are always looking to try new and different ways to better meet our customers’ changing needs,” said Susie Heins, Manheim’s vice president of dealer sales. “This new auction lane. that takes advantage of Manheim’s remarketing expertise, technology and staff to drive increased sales, is another example of how collaboration is delivering better business results for Hendrick Automotive Group.”

Manheim and Hendrick Automotive have been working together for more than 10 years. During this time, Manheim has delivered a variety of business solutions, including Dealer Trade Networks, remarketing training for the company’s used car directors, and consulting services that have led to more efficient and profitable solutions.

Hendrick Automotive Group, which operates 87 dealerships in the U.S., selected Manheim as their exclusive remarketing partner effective Jan. 1, 2014. This partnership selects Manheim as Hendrick’s primary source for remarketing wholesale inventory through its physical locations, mobile auctions and online.
